Eagles Watching Over

An eagle lifting off above the Labyrinth in the Douglas Fir.

What a surprise and pleasure to look up in the early morning to a crow’s call and see an adult bald eagle perched in the Douglas Fir tree on the SW corner of our property.  It stayed long enough for me to get my camera, focus and catch it as it lifted off.  Thanks for coming to visit! My Dad’s totem is an eagle.  A friend, Nancy McHugh, made a calligraphy card of an eagle when Dad died, and added two quotes.

“…I have topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace/Where never Lark nor even Eagle flew/And while with silent lifting mind I trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space/Put out my hand and touched the face of God.”
JG McGee, Jr.

“They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings as eagles; They shall run, and not be weary; And they shall walk, and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31

Two new rocks have joined the Labyrinth – Geodes from southern Iowa.  The man at 2800 76th Ave SW was interesting and had a great selection for a good price.
