Reply to a Blog

Below is a  reply to a recent blog I posted on walking the labyrinth.  JW is a dear friend from Goffstown who knew my folks well.  I am honored to continue the relationship forged by Mum and Daddy four decades ago.

“Dear Marion,

“Happy New Year to you and to Rich.  I hope 2013 is a happy, healthy and prosperous year for you both.

“Thank you so much for your blog updates. Although I can’t walk outside at dawn or dusk anymore to experience what you do, through your words I travel with you.  You awaken years of memories such as seeing a “cobalt” sky.  I was cross country skiing under the power line shortly after sunrise one day and as I looked uphill to the ledge, the color of the sky was almost unreal, the deepest blue I’ve ever seen.  On another snowy morning I rounded a bend just before the entrance to the boat launch at Kimball Pond.  Standing in the dusky light with gently falling snow was a moose.  We both stood stock still sharing the peace of the moment before we each turned and continued on our way.  I loved being out at that time of day – the world was mine alone and there was so much to experience every single day.  Your writing now conveys the essence of such experiences.

“I also liked your comments on Desert Pilgrim.  I am about to order it to read myself.  I will save your comments until I’ve finished and compare notes.  You are a woman after my own heart. ….

“Time to close.  Perhaps tomorrow I’ll “join you for a cup of coffee in front of the fire,”  at least in spirit.  Thanks again and take care.

“Love,  JW”
