The Walk before The Walk

Amused, I followed the paralleling deer tracks in the Laughing Labyrinth.  They, too must be on a mission.  Indeed, a food mission for the tracks dual split off   a third of the way around the Labyrinth.  Headed to the neighbor’s “food court.”

Did I ever need grounding and the Labyrinth had been pestering me all morning to walk. Waving one of my favorite feathers, I sang my “Reiki Symbol” song, then “Loving Kindness” that Tracy McP. taught us at the Equinox Labyrinth Workshop last September. “Ah, almost there….Whattttt?”  As the path turned away from Center.  Then, I laughed.  “It’s always something.”  Then, there I was.  Sheltered by the tree, stepping on bare earth, walking a tight circle. Stopped. Wind. Cars passing. Brisk air. Sweet smell of moisture in the air. Remembrances of owls, eagles in the fir tree when we moved in. Chickadees that scold each spring when I get too close to their nest in a cavity of the tree. Moonlit walks.  Cold bitter temperatures. Then, no memories at all.  Just certainty.  I AM at Center. Peace. Reluctantly, I began to make my way out.  Little steps. Slow steps.  “Well, I AM ready for this program with all its funny intricate pieces.”  Before I entered, I had given thanks to South for the warmth and manifestation of programs with friends.  To West for flowing waters that wash away uncertainty and bring in fresh new perspectives.  To North – earth (here I started to choke up) for wisdom and groundedness.  To East for light and airiness and personal growth.

So, I started to belt out La Marseillaise, the French National Anthem.  That started me walking!  Then, “Whatttt????” I was out of the labyrinth! How could that be?  Gave thanks again to the four Cardinal Points, rang the bell, and headed in to pack and leave.
