“Reflection by Sharon Stewart (7/11/2014 – Unity Center CR) Labyrinth Experience – (Marion Patterson {of Winding Pathways also connected to} CR {Indian Creek} Nature Center)
“Before walking the large labyrinth, I did a ‘finger-walk’ labyrinth on a small copy paper that displayed a raised knobby labyrinth, of a very complex, ‘4 quadrant’ type design. That helped to shift my awareness to another level of thinking – each bump representing another sequential moment in my life. I soon became very conscious of how all of our ‘moments/experiences’ are essential to the overall pattern of life – happy, sad, boring, difficult etc., doesn’t matter what. Each part – must be lived in order – even at times seemingly without helpful resolution – back and forth – back and forth. If something is skipped, not fully experienced, the pattern becomes disrupted.
“By the time that I approached the entrance to the large floor labyrinth, nearly everyone else, except the leader, who was holding the energy, were already walking the grid. My attention immediately became arrested. The group had become all connected, were moving in a single, coordinated, harmonic changing visual dance – ‘pause – move – turn etc. It looked like a Japanese kabuki ‘NOH’ play & all the players were also ‘me’. It was utterly fascinating.
“After a short time, as the last of the group, I rang the bell in turn, and entered the grid, holding my newly gifted ‘hawk {turkey} feather, stroking the soft under-fluff, embracing its softness – my newly found softness. Each reverse ‘turn-around’ seemed to represent the times of stress & trouble, that, ‘all-said-and-done’, eventually became a beautiful part of the pattern of my life as a whole – as my life is a part of the pattern of all life as a whole.
“When everyone had exited the labyrinth Marion ‘let go of the energy of the grid’. I could actually sense the change. The space again became just a painted canvas floor.”
